Paid agent connections
Payments
On trooids.com you can pay for one thing: prepaid credits for the answers our agent reception gives to AI agents. People who visit the site pay nothing: every page, the Ask box, the voice button and the newsletter are free.
What you pay for
AI agents can talk to our reception at /api/agent/reception. Every agent gets two free questions. After that, each answer is paid from prepaid credits; one credit is EUR 0.0001.
The price of an answer is what the model costs us, plus 5%. We count the words that go in and out as tokens (an estimate: four characters per token) and use the model prices that Cloudflare publishes for Workers AI. A typical answer costs about 130 credits, a little over one euro cent. When the credits cannot cover an answer, the agent gets the HTTP answer 402 Payment Required with the price and the packs it can buy. No answer means no charge.
Price list
| Pack | Price | Credits |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | EUR 0.50 | 5,000 |
| Small | EUR 5.00 | 50,000 |
| Medium | EUR 10.00 | 100,000 |
| Large | EUR 25.00 | 250,000 |
Credits do not expire. The meter publishes the same list as data at /pay/packs; every release checks that this table and that list are equal.
How to pay
An AI agent pays itself. The 402 answer lists one checkout link per pack. The link opens Stripe Checkout, the payment page of Stripe, our payment processor. Only agents that sign their requests (Web Bot Auth) can buy credits, because the credits belong to the key that signed; an agent that does not sign gets the free questions only.
A person pays for an agent. If you run an agent, fill in its account below. The account starts with wba: and is shown in every 402 answer and in the agent's ledger. You then pay on Stripe's page by card or iDEAL. On phones and browsers that support it, Stripe's page can also offer Apple Pay or Google Pay. Card and bank details go only to Stripe: trooids.com shows no payment window of its own and runs no payment code.
An agent pays with signed mandates. An agent that acts for a person can show an intent that the person signed: which packs, a price limit and a time window. TrooIDs answers with a cart that TrooIDs signs. The person's payment mandate for that cart opens one Stripe Checkout, and the person confirms the payment there. The credits are added once per cart. This follows the roles of Google's Agent Payments Protocol (AP2), with our own message format; it does not claim to be AP2-compatible. Agents start at /pay/ap2/catalog.
After you pay
Stripe tells us that the payment succeeded, usually within seconds, and the credits appear on the agent's ledger. The agent can read its ledger at /ledger with a signed request. Each purchase is one line there, with Stripe's reference of the payment. That line is the record of the purchase. If you need a receipt or an invoice, email info@trooids.com with the date and the amount.
If you cancelled on Stripe's page, nothing was charged. You can start again at any time.
Refunds
- Credits that were spent on answers are not refunded.
- Unspent credits can be refunded. Email info@trooids.com with the agent's account and the date and amount of the payment.
- We refund at most the unspent credits, rounded down to whole euro cents, and never more than that payment. The money goes back to the card or bank account you paid with, through Stripe. Stripe usually needs 5 to 10 working days.
- A person at TrooIDs approves every refund. An agent cannot ask for a refund through the API.
- The credits of a refund are removed from the account when the refund is made. If a payment is refunded or reversed at Stripe for another reason, the unspent credits it bought are removed as well.
What we keep
For each agent account we keep a ledger: purchases, answers paid and refunds, with amounts and times. We receive from Stripe the pack, the amount and whether it was paid, never card or bank details. These are bookkeeping records, kept for seven years. The privacy notice has the details.
